This is a cosy, friendly and casual restaurant that serves plain, honest food prepared with good quality ingredients. Service is courteous. It has a welcoming, old fashioned feel about it.
On our first visit we had a starter portion of beetroot, carrot, orange and rosemary soup, which was absolutely delicious and Id love the recipe for New Years Eve. The bread and butter were also lovely. This was followed by very tender lamb with a variety of nicely cooked vegetables. Whilst we were there a party of 12 walkers arrived and were all served quickly. My only criticism is that the table should have been wiped before we began. We shall definitely return. Thank you.
Last night was our first experience of dining at Cafe Impromptu since it doesn't normally serve dinner. What a delightful experience it was and how lovely to see the tables illuminated by candlelight. The food here is ALWAYS delicious and dinner was no exception with a three course menu of several choices in each course. There was the option of choosing two or three courses and as always it was very reasonably priced. We will most certainly take the opportunity to dine here again when we have the chance. I ordered a full English breakfast here, everything was cooked to perfection and was served warm. The service was quick and friendly. Good options for breakfast/brunch. The cafe was busy for the duration for our visit, popular with locals and visitors.
Food was very nice, our party had the full cooked breakfast, beans on toast and kippers. Very tasty well cooked, full breakfast was one of the best we've had. Only downside was the service, lacked coordination and waiters were taking sauces and sugar from other tables which already had people.
